Sohail Wahedi is born in Afghanistan (1990) and moved to the Netherlands with his family when he was 10. He has a bachelor degree in law and a master degree in legal research (cum laude) from Utrecht University. In 2015, his PhD research proposal on law and religion was accepted by the Erasmus Graduate School of Law and since then he is working on his PhD project. His work has been accepted for publication with Buffalo Human Rights Law Review; Quinnipiac Health Law Journal and Oxford Journal of Law and Religion. Sohail has also been a visiting fellow at Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto and a writing fellow in the International Center for Law and Religion Studies’ inaugural Oxford Program, Religion and the Rule of Law, which was organized by Brigham Young University and held at Christ Church, University of Oxford. For his research, Sohail has received travel grants from Erasmus Innovation Programme Research and Erasmus Trustfonds. Prior to his appointment as PhD Candidate, Sohail was intern at the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tel Aviv, Israel and a working student at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek Lawyers and Notaries in Amsterdam. Sohail is a fluent speaker of Dari, English, French and German and an elementary speaker of Hebrew, Arabic and Hindi.
